I recently got some info that the cast of the upcoming Avengers cartoon (which recently wrapped recording for Season 1) have been informed that Season 2 has already been greenlit based on the quality of episodes coming in.
One thing of interest to add. Recently Marvel regained animated and television rights to Spider-Man, is it possible the wall crawler may feature in Season 2?

It appears Seifer misread. Thanks to A PR rep from Funimation who checked the trailer frame by frame Digimon Frontier definately does not appear in it. Fanboy Review regrets the error, and Seifer is currently getting his 12 lashings.
It appears when ShoDojo launches it will launch with a few new shows (or it’s possible they will show up slightly after launch.)
A recent convention apparently had a new ShoDojo trailer that showed Digimon Frontier as one of these new series (Digimon Frontier was the only show that was recognized.) There had previously been no news from either Toei USA or Funimation about Digimon Frontier streaming. It’s also possible this may be the beginning of a new wave of Toei On-Demand titles. No news on Digimon Adventure or Digimon Tamers. Hopefully the trailer will be put online and we will find out more about this soon.
ShoDojo is Funimation’s new Anime video and community website that will be launching soon.
Thanks to Seifer for seeing the trailer and bringing it to my attention (at least I can thank him for something, he’s supposed to be staff…. get to work lazy!)

Small update for Stitch! since I’ve had multiple people ask me for more updates whenever possible.

Well known English dub writer, actor and director Jeff Nimoy will be writing the English adaption for Stitch! (No news on who the director is, or if there are other writers.)
He is most well known among anime fans for writing and directing a large percentage of Digimon’s English adaption (and playing Tentomon) and playing Wolfwood in the English adaption of Trigun. He has also written (and directed in many cases) for Bobobo, Zatch Bell, Naruto, GTO, and numerous other shows.
It’s also worth mentioning he wrote and directed the English adaption for RoboDz, a recent Toei/Disney co-production.

The second Bleach movie is getting it’s American release almost a year after the first. This time around the movie sticks it’s focus on a known character.

Does this two disk package hold the Bleach name up high? Or does Bleach The Movie 2: The DiamondDust Rebellion need a good bit of white out (ah, back to the bad jokes!) Let’s find out. Continue reading →

Time for another contest.
Only one prize I’m admitting to at the moment, but there’s a few more.
The prize is…

Season 1 of Dragon Ball on DVD.
This time around, the way to enter is…
Tell me your favorite ‘thing’ from Dragon Ball, DBZ, or DBGT… and by thing, I mean anything. Story, character, toy, game, a piece of art… anything you can think of.
(It’ll help your entry out if you explain your choice.)
My favorite answer will get their choice of the announced prize, or a few other prizes. First place gets their choice, then second place, and we keep going until no more prizes are left, same as last time.
Please send contest entries to contests@fanboyreview.net. Please only enter once. In your email include your answer and your name and address. Contest ends at 11:59pm (Pacific) on September 15th, 2009 (that’s a Tuesday).

I’ve been able to confirm information about one cast member for the dub of the Stitch! anime.

Pleakly, played by Kevin McDonald in prior Stitch media, has been recast, as I’ve been able to confirm known LA area ADR actors used in Studiopolis anime Dubs have tried out for the role.
With Pleakly being replaced, it seems likely that Jumba Jookiba will also be recast (he was played by David Ogden Stiers in other material.)
No news about Stitch himself. If I get further information I’ll let everyone know.

Wow, it’s been a long trek to get this on DVD. It’s kinda ironic that the last bit of all the original Dragon Ball/Z/GT related animations we finally get uncut are the first few episodes of the series (not including the 2008 special or Kai in that, purely all the originally released stuff.)

This is where the king of shonen anime started over twenty years ago. How does it stand up to it’s bigger brother Dragon Ball Z? Let’s take a look. Continue reading →

Despite its very loud and supportive fanbase, Chuck is a series that managed to fly under my radar until very recently. I had assumed it was some kind of new sitcom, and while I do like sitcoms, I’ve seen more than my fair share of them, so what could the networks possibly offer of interest nowadays?

The answer: …Well, Chuck’s not really a sitcom, but it does have elements of it that have been thrown in a blender with action, drama, a little bit of sci-fi seasoning, and an eccentric cast of characters. (For those interested, the first episode of Chuck is embedded at the bottom of the article.) Continue reading →

Lucky Star returns for one last… well not sure I’d call Lucky Star an adventure… but Lucky Star is back for one more go round (that works).

A few months after the series has ended we get about another episode and a half. With a bit of time having passed, is Lucky Star still the bright shining star we remember? Continue reading →
