The Fanboy Review is back with its second ever joint review! Join Alex and me as we take an early look at the first animated adaptation of the popular Dragon Age franchise.
Co-produced by EA and Funimation Entertainment, Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker made its debut in Japanese cinemas back in February and will be hitting US shelves on May 29. This is the first bit of animation that is a Funimation ‘original’ (rather than a licensed film/show.) How does their first original production hold up? Fans of both Disney and anime should be happy because it appears the Disney/Madhouse anime production Stitch! (a spin-off of the Lilo and Stitch franchise) will be coming to the USA relatively soon. Categories: News

Little nugget of exclusive (as far as I’m aware) info from your friendly neighborhood SpiderMarc… The new Avengers cartoon will be recorded at anime favorite studio Studiopolis, and they are currently in the midst of trying out some of your favorite actors. Could we get a Crispin Freeman Ant Man? A Kyle Hebert Thor? Wendee Lee as the Wasp? Who knows, but it’ll be interesting (and does this bode well for a Steve Blum guest appearance as everyone’s favorite snikt bub mutant Wolverine?) Not really an anime actor, but I’d love Frank Welker to get cast as Hulk and do his Krunk voice. {That cast stuff is just me theorizing, minus a few people I have no knowledge of anyone specific trying out..} ….AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will update with more when/if I’m allowed to say more… Categories: News

I’m not sure what I liked better about this episode… the story? the art?…nah. It is completely about the mock anime song. Was even better in HD. Categories: Feature

With Saber Rider getting a full DVD release soon I felt we had to celebrate in some way. What better way than having a parody of it’s sister series Voltron from fan favorite show Robot Chicken. Voltron got TOTALLY served! (Personally I prefer the original song that they had to remove for legal reasons, but oh well) Categories: Feature

Awhile ago we learned that Fabulous Films would be releasing the classic series Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD in a few different countries, the USA included. Mysterious Cities of Gold was a coproduction between quite a few different companies and groups and is one of the first anime (the first?) that aired on Nickelodeon back in the 1980s. It came out in the UK, it came out in Australia, and everything has been silent on the USA front, so what happened? Continue reading Categories: News

Since I know a few people out there (myself included) are Ben 10 fans I thought I would go over an issue with the Ben 10 Season 4 DVD set. The “Secret of the Omnitrix” movie (all 4 versions of it: Red, Blue, Gold, and Red w/ trivia popups) are on the second disk of the Season 4 set. Continue reading |
