Still trying to catch up on papers from being sick (still a bit sick in fact) so no in depth review until the weekend, but some early looking for everyone. I think for alot of people this will be the set that is used to decide if Funimation knows what they are doing with their new way of doing boxsets. Continue reading Categories: Feature

Been a bit busy with class stuff, so sorry for the lack of updates, but I got you guys some news. I’ve been informed by someone in the know that Hunter x Hunter is being dubbed in Canada, and NOT by Ocean. This means that it is likely being dubbed by Blue Water. Yay…. I guess. Categories: News

Wow, nearly a month before the DVD is released. This review is spoiler free. The first movie based on the Death Note manga finally gets an American DVD release from one of Viz’s sub-brands, Viz Pictures. Being one of Viz’s most popular brands, one would hope Death Note would get a grand treatment, and luckily it is. Let’s take a look at what is right and wrong with the DVD of Death Note. Just thought I’d comment on this since it has apparently spread around a bit based solely on one actor making a comment that then mysteriously vanished. Bleach isn’t dead, it’s still being dubbed. I have 100% confirmation that Wendee Lee was at Studiopolis last week directing more Bleach. SO let all your Bleach crazed friends know, Bleach is gonna keep coming in the USA. ~This article has been edited due to a mistake, it previously said Wendee Lee was at Studiopolis directing Bleach today. I had misunderstood what I was told, she was there last week.~ Categories: News

Am I the only person curious how Funimation will do Nerima Daikon Brothers? ADV’s three volume release had quite a few really good extras (I don’t think anything would beat the live action NDB). ADV’s 3 disk thinpak had none. What will Funimation’s version have? I hope they keep all the extras in what will no doubt be a 2 disk thinpak box. By Marc | August 16th, 2008
Just letting everyone know that Geneon products are starting to reappear in stores. I saw a few volumes of Black Lagoon earlier today. Not interested in the show, so I didn’t get them, but they are most certainly out there for those of you who are willing to look around. Categories: News

For the third time now we have a batch of DVDs that seem to work randomly. I’ve seen plenty of people complain about V.2 of Gurren Lagann (mine works), the new Zegapain, and V.1 and 2 of Code Geass (mine don’t work), and it’s been a few weeks and Bandai despite recalling some, and claiming to ship replacements to stores has been silent to the customers, but no more, Bandai is gonna set things straight and make sure we know what is going on.
….Great, thanks Bandai. You gotta wonder how they have sent replacements out if they don’t know what the issue is (and not mentioning the issues with the other DVD). By Marc | August 14th, 2008
After going over ADV’s changing boxart, I realized another company is doing something in regards to their packaging. Categories: Feature

I’ve gotten a few questions from friends about this, saw Nebs wonder about it, and seen at least two people claim they had to for ‘legal reasons’, so I felt it was about time I explain what is up with ADV re-releasing all kinds of old thinpak boxes they’ve done with new covers, and why new covers equals more sales. Woo, first review, and a couple days before the set is officially out also. School Rumble is a show I really enjoy. The singles released between late 2007 through the middle of 2008 had quite a few flaws in regards to video though. Funimation has changed a show released as six singles into a boxset with five disks, so let’s take a look at what’s changed, what’s better, what’s worse, and what is the same. Continue reading
