Blue Gender Episode 1 Review w/ Episode
By Justin | August 13th, 2008

Hey, Sports fans! It looks like the time has come for me to make my debut on the FBR, so I am going to kick things off with the 1999 animated series Blue Gender, which was localized by Funimation in the US between 2001 and 2003.

Today we’re going to take a look at the very first episode of the series, the episode that started it all, and see what it’s all about.  The episode is at the bottom of the review, so if you want to watch it before reading the review, scroll on down (it’s split into pieces, all are down there).

Goku and Piccolo Look Kinda Funny From the Back…
By Marc | August 11th, 2008

So apparently one of Bandai USA’s new DBZ toys is an electronic game where you connect a Goku and a Piccolo figure to electronic handles and press buttons to make them flail about and scream battle action phrases while battling them.

The issue with it is WHERE the connector points are…

Yeah…

Well, if you too require weird asses on your toys, have at it (and feel free to make any obvious jokes in the comments).

Thanks to a forum goer on Daizex for the picture… I think.

Random Fun- August 10th, 2008
By Marc | August 10th, 2008

I really enjoy the Shin-Chan dub. I normally prefer dubs to be as close as reasonably possible (although as long as the subs are uncut I don’t mind some rewriting and such in the dub). Shin-Chan on DVD is technically an ‘edited’ release, but I just love it so much.

School Rumble Season 1 Boxset Early Review
By Marc | August 10th, 2008

Woo, first review, and a couple days before the set is officially out also.

School Rumble is a show I really enjoy.  The singles released between late 2007 through the middle of 2008 had quite a few flaws in regards to video though.  Funimation has changed a show released as six singles into a boxset with five disks, so let’s take a look at what’s changed, what’s better, what’s worse, and what is the same. The Professionals Am Being Greetest!?- Funimation’s Shuffle Trailer
By Marc | August 9th, 2008

Welcome to the first “The Professionals Am Being Greetest!?”

In this recurring feature/column, we will point out any ludicrously stupid mistakes/things that companies/professionals do in regards to all the fun stuff we enjoy watching and reading and so forth.

For the first one, we will show something regarding the American release of the anime Shuffle. Continue reading

Dragonball GT Season 1 Set Solicitation Mistake
By Marc | August 8th, 2008

The one thing that was mentioned at the Funimation panel of interest is the Dragonball GT Season 1 set will be 5 disks.  Since the set is 32 episodes and the solicitation info at quite a few stores said 3 disks people started to get a bit worried about video compression.  5 disks should be fine for 32 episodes though, let’s just hope that like the trailer shows, lets hope these episodes aren’t cropped like DBZ was.

Otakon Day 1 News Roundup
By Marc | August 8th, 2008

The first day of Otakon’s panels is beginning to come to a close and as for announcements….

Nadda.

Nothing was really announced, I guess you could count Saber Rider (although no one I know was at the Voltron/Saber Rider panel, so I have no idea if anything was actually announced there), but that was announced yesterday.

At the Media Blasters panel some people brought up Gaogaigar Final and nothing concrete was said one way or the other.  Funimation’s panel was largely just going over stuff we already knew.  I guess whatever ‘thing’ Gen had mentioned in quite a few recent interviews isn’t ready to be announced yet, hopefully soon.

Let’s hope we get some interesting news in the next couple of days.
