Old by the standard of most modern anime fans and companies, Hunter x Hunter is getting a release from the only company with a Shonen Jump stamp to use as they please. Far easier to write than my review last week (what shonen adventure show ISN’T easy to lay down and watch?), let’s see if this dog can hunt. Continue reading By Marc | November 9th, 2008
A show I’ve heard people talk about for awhile. Darker Than Black is probably one of the better shows in recent memory. Hard review to write for alot of reasons, but the main one is this show is complex, and very deep. So let’s take a look at Darker Than Black and see what’s what. Wow, nearly a month before the DVD is released. This review is spoiler free. The first movie based on the Death Note manga finally gets an American DVD release from one of Viz’s sub-brands, Viz Pictures. Being one of Viz’s most popular brands, one would hope Death Note would get a grand treatment, and luckily it is. Let’s take a look at what is right and wrong with the DVD of Death Note. Hey, Sports fans! It looks like the time has come for me to make my debut on the FBR, so I am going to kick things off with the 1999 animated series Blue Gender, which was localized by Funimation in the US between 2001 and 2003. Today we’re going to take a look at the very first episode of the series, the episode that started it all, and see what it’s all about. The episode is at the bottom of the review, so if you want to watch it before reading the review, scroll on down (it’s split into pieces, all are down there). By Chris G. | August 11th, 2008
The Homestar Runner series finally makes it’s grand appearance in the (commercial) gaming market with it’s first game, “Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People- Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner”, for the Wii. Probably one of the most long awaited games for WiiWare, the game has more than enough moments, but it isn’t a perfect game by any means. Continue reading Categories: Game Review

Hey there. This is Rachel, a staff member with a wide variety of nerdy interests making my first post to the site, and in it what should be the first of many reviews from me… As a fan of classic television, science fiction, and Lorne Greene, I probably should have sought out the original Battlestar Galactica much sooner than this. But I didn’t know much about it until recently, other than that the timing of the original broadcast made it seem like a mere attempt to cash in on the Star Wars craze. However, while there are at least a few visual similarities to Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica’s story and execution are quite different. ~Marc- Small note from your favorite editor, this will FBR’s first review with the full episode embedded in the review, if you wish to watch the episode BEFORE reading the review, scroll to the bottom.~ By Marc | August 10th, 2008
Woo, first review, and a couple days before the set is officially out also. School Rumble is a show I really enjoy. The singles released between late 2007 through the middle of 2008 had quite a few flaws in regards to video though. Funimation has changed a show released as six singles into a boxset with five disks, so let’s take a look at what’s changed, what’s better, what’s worse, and what is the same. Continue reading By Marc | August 9th, 2008
Some people might be wondering where the reviews are, since the site has it in the title. The answer is quite simple. Some of our staff is gone away at cons for the weekend, the rest are just really…really….really….. ‘thinks’ really lazy. Hope to have some reviews soon ‘goes to start poking staff with sticks’ Categories: Site Business
